An associate professor of comparative literature and digital humanities at Columbia University, Dennis’ new book, Literary Theory for Robots: How the Computer Learned to Write, unfolds the interdependent histories of literary theory and computer science in prose, exploring what intelligent objects might reveal about what is most human in us.

Book Description: In summer of 1965, Christopher Ricci's mother has runaway. Unable to take care of him, his father decides to leave the thirteen year old with his own sister in upstate New York. In this poignant coming of age novel, Chris tries his best to adapt to life in rural New York, navigate first love, and make sense of his changing world.
Richard Vetere is a prolific American author, playwright, and screenwriter known for his emotionally charged storytelling. His diverse body of work includes novels, plays, and screenplays, and he is celebrated for his ability to delve into the depths of the human experience with authenticity and insight.
He has a master's degree in Comparative English Literature from Columbia University and has lectured on screenwriting and playwriting in the master's program at NYU and lectures now at Queens College.

Center for Brooklyn History Open House for Scholars and Faculty
The Center for Brooklyn History, located on 128th Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn Heights, is now open 6 days a week, as well as their archives and research collections in their beautiful Othmer Library.
They look forward to serving as a resource and a gathering space for students and faculty, whether you are researching Brooklyn’s history in their collections, want to learn more about your family history, or simply need a free, beautiful space with outlets and WiFi to work in.
They are holding open house events next month to welcome everyone into their space! RSVP now!
Mix and mingle with other scholars interested in researching Brooklyn’s history, and find out how to use the resources of the Center for Brooklyn History for your research, teaching, and project goals.
Participants will learn more about the resources available at CBH, including the entire run of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle newspaper, 1,200 oral histories, and 2,000 historic maps, and much more. Light refreshments will be served.
