Wondery - AP/Researcher Position
Wondery seeks to engage an associate producer for a new weekly narrative nonfiction show about the secrets and lies behind the world’s most powerful institutions. CIA cover-ups, secret operations, and declassified military missions and disasters. This series will untangle the threads of hidden histories, sifting through the fog of misinformation to reveal the truth.
This role will primarily conduct research, assist with initial post-production work, and support day-to-day processes for all aspects of the show. If you’re a researcher with a strong foundation in audio, a bias for action, and an interest in a flexible work arrangement, we want to hear from you.
Compensation for Services:
This is a six-month 1099 independent contractor position with an estimated hourly commitment of 40 hours per week. This contract does have the possibility to extend, although there is no guarantee of continued engagement beyond the contract term. We’re looking for someone to start ASAP. Estimated compensation for this position ranges from $1200-$1500 per week. Compensation is negotiable based on experience, skillset, and location. This position does not provide health, retirement, or pension benefits.
Responsibilities:
Research and pitch declassified mystery stories
Create story assessments with episode outlines
Prepare research briefs for chosen pitches
Support the producers and writers with additional research as needed
Work with transcripts and format scripts
Assemble host recordings into rough cuts for sound designers by editing together the host’s best takes and adjusting tape for pacing
Assist the the team with scheduling, coordination and post production as needed
Draft episode metadata
Qualifications Required:
1-3 years of relevant experience
Excellent research skills, including sourcing material
Bias for action, including the ability to pivot and problem solve
Strong storytelling instincts
Excited to take ownership of the work
Qualifications Preferred:
Proven writing skills
Audio production experience
Experience with Descript and/or other DAW systems
